We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Legal / Technical Editor to support a federal regulatory client in Washington, DC. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to mission-critical regulatory and policy initiatives that support national security priorities.

The Legal / Technical Editor will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and preparing regulatory and policy documents for federal publication. The successful candidate will ensure all materials meet applicable drafting standards, style requirements, and quality expectations while supporting collaboration among analysts, writers, and subject matter experts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit regulatory text, Federal Register documents, policy materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Review documents for clarity, grammar, consistency, accuracy, and legal sufficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal drafting standards, style guides, and publication requirements.
  • Collaborate with policy analysts, writers, attorneys, and subject matter experts to refine content.
  • Prepare documents for submission, publication, and distribution.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure publication-ready deliverables.
  • Support regulatory and policy development activities through technical editing and document management.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret Security Clearance (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 to 7+ years of experience in legal editing, regulatory editing, technical writing, technical editing, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written communication, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Regulatory drafting and rulemaking.
  • Legal and policy analysis supporting federal regulations.
  • Federal regulatory frameworks, including BSA/AML-related programs.
  • Federal Register publication processes.
  • Technical writing and editing for regulatory materials.
  • Federal style guides and regulatory drafting standards.
  • Digital content and document management tools.

Work Location

This position is fully on-site in Washington, DC.

Clearance Requirement

Applicants must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance. No clearance sponsorship or upgrade opportunities are available for this position.
